Will's first 12 hours
Its now 11pm in HK. Will has now made it through his first 12 hours and is still fighting away. I have now come home as there is no immediate plans for further surgery.
After reviewing his CT scan, the doctors have confirmed that there is no perforations in the bowel etc. So, this has now been ruled out as a possible cause. They have also confirmed that the fluid is not blood.
As a positive step forward, the growth of the abdomen has stopped. In recent measurements, he has actually shrunk slightly (down by about 0.5cm). This small change is not significant so at this stage does not tell us whether or not he has started to beat the problem himself.
The doctor now thinks it is likely that it is some form of issue with the peritoneum (the membrane that lines the wall of the abdomen and covers the abdominal organs). This is likely to be some form of viral infection.
Until they sample the fluid in the abdomin they are unable to determine the actual cause, and, as noted earlier, they are reluctant to do this due to the possible side effects of releasing the pressure that is currently in place.
So for tonight, they will continue to actively monitor Will's condition. If he begins to improve they will start to reduce the assistance provided by the respirator. The longer he is on the respirator, the worse it is for his lungs, so they are keen to reduce the respiration if possible. If this is possible, it will indicate a strong improvement in Will's condition, so our prayers are for this.
Finally, I just want to offer thanks on behalf of the Turner family to the many many people who have offered prayers and assistance (almost all of Hong Kong have offered to look after Jack and Cleo). You have all been a wonderful blessing to us, and we have strongly felt God's presence and guidance through this last few days. To me, the support received by our fellow Christians is a good forsight for what God's kingdom will be like.
My current plan is to visit the hospital again tomorrow morning around 9am. At this point I'll update you on progress again.
Thank you all.
(ps. for those interested, the care we have received in the hospital is outstanding. I do not believe we could have hoped for better)

This christian family that we belong to is quite awesome isn't it. I'm sitting alone in the dark in our study and I feel like there are about a thousand people sitting here with me, waiting for your updates and praying with me for Will's safety. Quite overwhelming really... has brought many tears to my eyes.
H,
Your ability to coherently report all this astounds me. You should get a job reporting from a war zone. How is Jules coping?
The thoughts and prayers of the christian family are strong and there is no mistaking the power of God. Here I continue to pray for Will and for you all and I'm thankful that there is so much love and care surrounding you, Julie, Jack, Cleo and Will. I also pray for the continued abilities of the Doctors. Love to you all
The Hammonds family is praying for Will. His fighting spirit is shining through. We have been touched by your accounts and the comments of others. The power of prayer and the bond in Christ is moving. We appreciate knowing how to specifically pray for Will and for your family. This morning our prayers will focus on Will's lungs and the decreased use of the respirator. May God continue to give you His peace that passes all understanding! Love and prayers, James, Jen, Ashley and Sydney

Hi,
Great to hear about the baby boy(Will) but I was glad to hear that the Will was still fighting on 12 hours later. I will be praying for you every minute of every day till Will gets better. Sorry that I can not be there to support you but you must be able to feel every one praying and hoping that every thing will be upwards from now on. I think the name is great. I am so glad to hear about Will but my impatient Mum wants to type something as well so I have to go. Aunty Julie and Uncle Harry so please say hi to Jack Cleo and Will. I can't wait to see my new cousin for the first time ever.
Love from
Renee
Hi to you all.
Isn't prayer wonderful. We were all very releived to hear that Will made it through the first 12 hours and the CT scan and that the swelling had stopped. I realise that is is still early days yet but enough positive baby steps in Will's health will equal a whole lot of good things.
I thank God that he allowed such instant communication between countries to enable Harry to keep all those who love him and his family in such constant close touch. Being with them would be the only way to be better informed. I am overwhelemed at harry's ability to seem so calm and coherent during such a stressful time and can only guess that Julie is coping in a similar way. God really blessed Will with terrific faithful and calm parents.
I am amazed when I think about the size and distance that Will's prayer chain covers. My guess that the following countries are but a few in it :- Hong Kong, China, Philipines, England, Ireland, Australia & America.
As both Harry and Julie have said
"What happens to the baby now is totally God's will. So now our Will is in God's hands, as he is God's Will."
I could not think of better parents for this baby or better hands to be in than God's.
Love to you all
Evelyn
I am so pleased Will's first 12 hours have gone well. We're still praying for you guys.
Give Jules a big hug and kiss from us.
